Broeck-Poyrte: Gate at the marshy meadows
After Nieuw-Gamoor was flooded with people - after many water floods -, the elite of Nieuw-Gamoor fled the city to find a more relaxed and quiet place that suited their sense for beauty: Broeck-poyrte (Or Broeckpoyrte, as some write it, meaning Gate at the marshy meadows, which is not chic enough for its inhabitants). Just outside the northern gate of Nieuw-Gamoor, this village of villas has been build, with the services that the rich could not miss: theatre, panorama, schools, salons, luxury shops, parks with picnic spots, large gardens and broad lanes (Polverc), duelling ranges, rural and romantic horse tracks, and a small harbour for the yachts.
Broeck-poyrte has no city walls (the Polverc is what remains of an old fort that was once build to protect Nieuw-Gamoor), but is guarded very well. The rich pay for their safety and claim it is worth it. Thieves from Nieuw-Gamoor have given up trying to burglar in the houses of Broeck-poyrte.
This village is only famous for the rich and famous who live(d) here. Among its inhabitants were Yzabrân of Ciniz and Yeni Kallisasdaughter the Wild. Maniro Spindauns stayed here for a while, as he supervised the building of his Rural Park that is still one of Broeck-poyrtes highlights.
