Panoramas

In the city of Ildritz, the taste of the art-loving public is spoiled by an overdose of beauty and art. The best thing they can get, is a visit to the Panorama. The Panoramas (there are five of them in downtown Ildritz) are an amazing mix of experiences of the senses.

The Panorama is a large room, that is empty in the middle, and has one large painting on the walls that gives the visitors the feeling as if they where somewhere else. The decoration in front of the painting emphasises this feeling.
The visitors enter the room by a stairway from below. As soon as everyone is in the room, the show starts. Lights, smoke, mirrors, shadows, sounds and music, artificial wind, temperature differences, sometimes even smells, flow into the room and tell a story on their own. Some shows have a narrator. Figures made of shadow are shown on the painting like unreal actors. The spectacle is overwhelming.
The famous show "The Breaking of the World" had even an artificial eathquake in it, where the public was moved by a rocking floor. These effects are rare, but highly praised by the public.

The shows in the panoramas are changed about every five years. Each Panorama has its own Panorama makers, so each panorama has a certain touch of its own taste to the shows. For example, the popular panorama Saihvan Sumjane only shows the live and legends of the Naglani. Their expression of the Taycha culture is so lifelike, even Naglani like to go to the show.

The history of the Panorama’s is short. In 1751, a Naglaniman started Saihvan Sumjane ("To look around") to show the elite of Ildritz his homeland. Soon afterwards, the other Panoramas were built. It is believed the art of making panoramas and especial the light-and-shadow-effects came from Dernian Landis, but this is not proved yet. Nowadays, the making of panoramas is big business for the fantastic artists of lldritz.
