The Naglani metamorph into a bird known as Aarol. They are big hunting birds, with dark colours. Some say they may be huge raven or large owls, but they are neither. The Naglani call the birds Aarol, but that is a more or less general word for "Naglan-changed-into-bird". Not much is known about the Aarol, somehow they seem to live only in the night, with the lights out. The moons, so the Dalethians will tell, are not bright enough to follow the whereabouts of the Aarol. Some legends have it that the Aarol are afraid of light, or that the light of Lukarna change them back into Naglani. Like the eggs of the Naglani, the eggs of the Aarol are a light hue of yellow with darker dots on it. It brings unfortune to destroy an Aarol-egg. Of course, this might be superstition, but the Battle of Glimmer, in 871 AFO started that way. The Naglani took revenge on those who had destroyed the egg of the thyngfyrst's oldest daughter. The battle took 294 lives and left Glimmer almost uninhabited. Related topics: |
