Travelling

Travelling is not a joy in Daleth. Only people who have to travel do so; but then, spending a nice time elsewhere may count as a good reason as well.
There are three ways to travel: by foot, with horses, or by boat. By foot is by far the cheapest way. With horses, one can travel on horseback or in a carriage or cart. On narrow rivers, boats are usually rowed, on sea and wide rivers they sail. Some boats in West-Salamandran are pulled by horses that walk on the riverbank.
In winter, a sleigh can be used on snow or ice, or both. The sleigh can be pulled with horses, sailed, or pulled by humans; small sleighs are used to transport luggage. Travelling in winter is not recommended, but sometimes necessary.

In Salamandran, one can join a caravan to travel to distant places. This is a safe way to cross the deserted plains; the caravan will take along enough food and water to travel a few days without fresh food, and provide comfortable tents to spend the night in.
As usually, some caravan leaders are corrupt and/or evil, but -since the Imperial Laws have been introduced- these kind of persons don’t live very long under the clear Dalethian sky.
