Places to sleep

As the Two Empires became one, the Emperor ordered to make a secure way to posting messages throughout the United Empires. One of the ideas was to make a chain of safe and cheap inns for imperial messengers. This chain still exists today. It is the best alternative to spend the night in.
All Imperial inns have names that start with “The weapon of” and ending with the name of the place when they are in a settlement. Outside of settlements, the imperial inns are the only alternative to spending the night out in the open. The food (breakfast and dinner, usually a take-along-lunch too) is good and rather cheap, the beds are good too. The rooms can be either sleeping halls for more persons (of the same sex) or private rooms for one person or a party. (Hot) baths can be arranged when asked for. Other services on are demand, but don’t expect many services out of the big cities.

Most cities do have alternative inns or pensions. Some are better, with more comfort and luxuries than than the “Weapons”, and are more expensive. Others are more basic and cheaper, mostly because meals aren’t included and private rooms are rare.

The cheapest way to spend the night is to sleep out in the open, under the stars on under a small shelter deck. This can be dangerous, and is not allowed within the gong area of a city. Some places are very popular and crowdy, so a good rest is not always provided.
In more isolated regions, spending the night in holes or under trees is the only way to sleep a little sheltered. “Imperial Shelters” have a little comfort, such as fresh water, information panels, heaps of soft grasses to sleep on, dry wood to make fire with, and a full equiped tinderbox.
Taking tents along is only possible when travelling by horse and cart. The Dalethian tents are very heavy.

It is always recommended to take along a warm garment (cloak) or something else to sleep under. Clean sheets and towels can be handy too. Everything for personal hygiene should be taken along with the traveller.
