Heraldic colours

Argent	= silver (white)
Or	= gold (yellow)
Azure	= blue
Vert	= green
Gules	= red (bright)
Sanguine	= red (dark)
Purpure	= purple
Ermine	= a fur, black and white
Tenné	= orange, tanned

The Council of Arms

Heraldry is a very specific art. In Daleth, the persons who know all about it form the Council of Arms in Ildritz. It used to be called "Imperial" but with that word the other countries did not want to do business with the Council.
The Council keeps an eye on the coats of arms all over Daleth. Each country, city, guild, family, person or whatever can design a coat of arms, but the Council has to approve of it. This keeps the designers from copying someone elses coat of arms, or to make fun of one. The Council also sees to it that a design is good enough visible and recognisable from a distance.
