In the southern parts of the realm, in Salamandran and on the Overveer Highlands, the gyns live. Travellers have reported gyns from Thirun as well, and it is believed that many gyns live in the Unknown Terriroties of Lasutyq. There are gyns that live in the Gi-Albter and travel south in winter with the snow. Stories from Fanigawi mention some kind of gyns that walk upon the water. But most gyns live in Luban, and scientists think that is where they originate. Gyns are some kind of non-material creature. In Luban, they are [akól]dahiník, in southern Daleth they are known as lost splinters of those who died in the desert without a proper funeral. Their body turned to dust in the heat, but their splinter kept moving. In other parts of Daleth, similar apparations are known as the Kiss of Vindel. Gyns are not visible, but their movements are clear in the sand and the dust of the humid parts of our world, in snow and on the surface of the water in other parts, and sometimes strong gyns can be seen in the grass or in the weathfields. They might be creatures of the dust and the wind, but, other point out, they just cant be noticed on places where there is no dust or dirt. So they might as well be everywhere. Another sign of the gyns is a sudden twist of wind in the air. Gyns in Daleth scare people because of their sudden appearance. Those who believe in the tale of the splinter, might fear that the gyns are haunting them or make them seriously ill with fever. However, there are no reports of any relation between the gyns, haunting and illnesses. Thus, scientists believe that gyns might come from another dimension. The blow of wind that is noticed at the appearance of the gyns might be nothing more than the clashing of a temporal portaldoor to and from that other dimension. Because the larger part of the gyns stay in another dimension, they are invisible, but their footsteps can be seen in the dust and the dirt, the sand and the snow. In Altheizar, scholars tried to open the portal for the gyns in their laboratory in 1835. They used a large glass jar, a Blitzermachine, a piece of Lolunhauri, a claimed and unknown amount of raw Aether, Amalbruns, a fan, and an object that might have been a primitive shadow lens from Dernian Landis. Their colleagues from Ciniz and Ildritz say they used a lot of techniques, spells and ingredients, but forgot to use their brain. However, on the Vindelsfoor the mages of Altheizar showed the gyns in the jar. Hundreds of spectators have seen it, and some of these witnesses made the official statement that it was all very real. Some even saw the faces of the gyns, horribly wrinkled features, white as paper, folded into multiple dimensions, red eyes screaming with fear, small fangs over pale lips, pointed ears like antennae on the bold head; and their bodies, evenly pale, wrinkled and folded, limbs uncountable like tentacles, fingers and claws touching the glass of the jar, trying to find a way to get out.
