Stories

A little warning here: the stories are not for “the faint of heart”, or (little) children, and they aren’t absolutely political correct either. I hope you enjoy them anyway.

In chronological order:

[
Jack-O'-Lantern ]
[
The wet treasure ]
[
A dream from the swamp ]
[
The wooden cathedral ]
[
Red Cliff ]
[

[

[
Blato 2025 or Cunera's curse ]

Here are a few short stories, set in Blato. The stories are part of a bigger story, but I doubt if that ever will be written at all. The short stories are like snapshots from Blato and can be read in any order.
The frame for the snapshots is the following:
Four young people are on their way from Castle Uttiloch at Udl to the city of Griin. In Griin they hope to find the Library. It is rumoured that some important documents are kept in the Library and that the contents of the document can end the war between Fryslan and Blato. However, Griin is a Frysian city, and enemies can pop up anywhere.

The travellers are:
  • Freule Wendelmoed, a young noble woman who more or less ran away from home to save her family from the war;
  • Her maidservant Maike, who will follow her mistress and best friend everywhere;
  • Maike’s older brother Wilfryd, who is determined to become a knight;
  • And Gijs, a boy they picked up just outside the court of Wendelmoeds parents, who is training to be a priest of the New Religion.
The stories Fog & Frogs and Blato 2025 and the poems Jack-O'-Lantern and The Ballad of Ummerwee are not set in the above mentioned framestory.
