Army: the Armed Forces

Military Academy

Everybody older than 14 with good mental and physical health can join the Military Academy. The oldest and most famous Military Academy of Daleth is in Ildritz. Overveer has its own Military Academy in Altheizar.
Other countries usually chose to educate their own army, but they may also come to Ildritz in times of peace.
The divisions for the navy are trained at Dohn-Pordon or Topomeir.

Divisions

In the Military Academy, one can chose a division to study - a division is nothing more than a specialised party. Each regiment has one or more divisions, suited to the region they serve. Some soldiers might have been educated in more than one division, but they will always be assigned to only one division when serving.
Divisions have their own chiefs, who are under the direct order of the head of the regiment. Chiefs of division might become head of the regiment if they know the trade for more than three divisions - who has served more divisions has better chances.
Divisions operating in a legion are commanded by the atheisan.

Regiments and squadrons

The regiments are groups of 100-500 soldiers that are assigned to serve a certain region. In times of peace, a regiment of 100 soldiers is not uncommon; during trouble or war the region can be served by two or more regiments forming a legion.
The "steady" regiments are then added with soldiers who serve in squadrons, the not-region assigned regiments. Most squadrons have their home base in Ildritz. Gresnan are in charge of the squadrons. Most squadrons exist of mounted knights, but infantry can be found in squadrons too. The knights, however, are quicker in places of trouble and therefore more asked for help.

Navy

The navy has a different structure. The soldiers are assigned to ships under the command of captains and the ships form fleets, who serve under a commander. The head of the navy is the atheisan.
There are three fleets in Daleth: the Northern Fleet, sailing from Lamorial to Vimeir (including Roverseiland), the Southern Fleet which controls the sea from Vimeir to Elfane, and the Eastern Fleet (which is mocked by the "proper" fleets that sail at sea), which sails Kristalmeer.
Although the River Fleet is educated at naval divisions, they serve normal army regiments as special divisions.

Hamei

The hamei is a special force that guards the borders of Daleth, in some cases also interior borders. The Royal Hamei protects the borders of Daleth, and other countries might have a regional hamei to protect their own borders. In most cases, the hamei does not only serve the military, but also the treasury by checking on tax-evaders.

Social behaviour

For a division at war, it is legal to kill enemies. However, if this results in orphans, the division is held responsible for the further education of the child. The division is also responsible for orphans of their own soldiers that died in service. Thus, many children are taken into the military schools, institutes where they are educated and nourished. Some might be adopted by civilians. Many of these children, however, chose to be a soldier, just like their foster parents were.

The ranks

To understand the ranks in Dalethian military, one should understand the system of the divisions.
A normal soldier is a soldier, who knows how to work in his own division. A soldier knowing about the tasks of two divisions has another rank. In fact, he might be leader of the division, but only the person who is in charge gets a real new rank. The signs of each rank is a small logo.

Many ranks have been given names in Tuggs. Here's a list:
