ReligionThere are several Gods worshipped in Fanigawi. The most important god is Tuaorgz, the Toad God, an amphibious being that lives in the water and on the land and therefore in all of Fanigawi. The rites for Tuaorgz take place in temples that are build on riverbanks, half in the water, half on the land.The Fanigawi have burial rites according to this religion: the dead are thrown into a “lake of the dead”. To prevent the bodies from floating to the surface, they are tied together with stones. Richer persons might also be tied to their gold to keep them down. "Came from water and back to water" has a double meaning; not only is believed that all life came out of the C’hlaomcub crater lake, most babies are born under water which is supposed to give them the blessing of Taourgz. Lesser deities, but very important along the coast, are the eight gods of the wind and their sister, the goddess of windless. These gods are celebrated with coloured kites, small windmills, and on all sails. Smoke sacrifices are made regular, with burnt seaweeds, flavoured with a variety of herbs, such as Kemp seeds, and weeds. Priests of the Wind Gods are burned after they have died, to be taken to the sky where the Gods of Wind live. Temples for the Wind Gods are only build with trees that have grown askew due to a steady wind in one direction. Both trees and temples can be found all along the coast. The priests of the Wind Gods have a very particular way to communicate with each other and the gods. The have bones of birds on large wires (one bone on each wire) and twirl it around. This makes a humming noise. Different bones give different sounds, but it always sounds somewhat uncanny... In some places, a small population lives according to the ancient Naglani religion. More recent, some people have taken the Religion of the Four Gods from Daleth, but made changes to fit their old religion. Aaser is usually combined with Tuaorgz, and Vindel with the Wind Gods. Phyarx and Gräins are considered less important, although Phyarx is in some place the evil brother of Tuaorgz.
