Doctor Nincan Oil

Kicked out of Ildritz university in 1798 at the age of 20 for raising riot and rebelling against both the academic establishment and the scientific laws, Idur Nincan did not give up his scientific work. He experienced in biology and medicine, and finally can up with his "Swartiz Powder", named after the town he lived and worked in. He noticed his powder worked very well against a lot of diseases, and he gave up science to produce and sell his powder as a medicine. He adopted the title "doctor" for marketing reasons, and got his academic grade from the university of Altheizar, for the price of 200 Skatts.
The swartiz powder made him extremely rich, hence his palace in Ildritz. He also bought a new place to work in Altheizar, after he accidentally blew up his Swartiz home and laboratory in 1803 (the explosion, he claimed later, had nothing to do with the production of the Swartiz Powder; others say the explosion was a set up to cover some illegal productions).
The laboratory he bought was soon expanded to a fully functioning factory, with its own administrative buildings and expedition firm. Nincan was taken into the Guild of Healers with honour - he had to pay a lot for that status but it was to only way to be respected in Altheizar. After his dead in 1819, the Altheizar factory continued producing the Nincan powder, and Nincan got a statue on the square in front of the factory.

Swartiz powder, now known as Nincan powder, has secret ingredients. How it works is not known, but many Dalethians will take nothing else when feeling ill. Doctors think the diseases are just delusions, and the effect of the powder is that the patients have the illusion they are cured from an imaginary disease. The extremely bitter taste of the powder, that cannot be camouflaged by sweeter ingredients like honey, adds to the illusion. But there are certainly some working ingredients in the powder, probably herbs that are used in normal medicines as well. After all, Idur Nincan had studied health science for 3 years.

The powder is either made into pills, ointments or, most popular, potion. The potion is now sold under the official name "Doctor Nincan Oil - tauvár oil with genuine swartiz powder based on traditional recipe." A bottle of this is sold for the reasonable sum of 1 Skilliggs per tankard. Elder people, children, and mothers-to-be swallow a spoon full of the Doctor Nincan Oil on daily base to prevent illnesses.
