Mufkaga

Mufkaga (roofcat)
Mammal
Where: rooftops of Ildritz and sometimes other large cities

The Mufkaga is an animal of unknown origin. It appeared on the rooftops of Ildritz in the late 17th century, and wasn't spotted before that time. It lives on the rooftops, feeding itself with rainwater, birds and insects. It can jump from roof to roof with it's large hind legs, and has no problem climbing with it's forepaws. The long tail balances the creature when it jumps, and acts as a third arm white climbing.
The Mufkaga is as big as a cat, and sometimes called "roofcat". It is cute in appearance, but not suited to be a pet. It needs the roofscape to live on, or dies very soon. However, a mufkaga can be a family friend for those who regularly feed them and don't hush them away from their roofs. In summer, the mufkaga lays lazy in the gutter, watching the world walk by below. On rare occasions, the mufkaga will jump down on people. This probably has something to do with the birdlike hats some women wear.
The skin of the Mufkaga is unwanted, while usually dirty. The animal doesn't have a good name, because it lives, like servants, above the normal people.
The Mufkaga breed three times a year, having 1 or 2 babies at a time. The babies cling to their parents and are thus taken over the roofs until they can jump on their own. Within a year, the babies can breed themselves, thus causing plagues of mufkaga in certain years. And hunting mufkaga on the roofs of Ildritz is not easy.
The guild of chimney sweepers has taken the mufkaga in their coat of arms. They also have the breeding-squad, that hunts the creatures when they have become a plague.
The mufkaga has been spotted in Altheizar and Wymar only recently. The usual respons upon sighting one is "Oooooh! Cuuuuute!"
