The game of Hold Up! is very popular in Daleth, in various versions. The basic game is a board with a track on it. Four players start from different corners. They move a figure over the track according to the number on the six-sided dice they just rolled. Whenever a figure passes the figure of another player, the player of the figure that has been passed has to pay a point to the passing figures player. It doesn't matter if a player is one or more laps behind, the game just continues ont the endless track. The game ends when a player has the amount of points that is said to be needed for winning. On some occasions, the game ends after a certain amount of time, who has the most points then, wins. And it is known that people play this game for money, the game ends when one of the players has lost all his money. The game is played in a strip-version as well: instead of points, one gives a piece of clothing. The game ends when one player is totally naked and the winner is the one with the most clothes. In Salamandran and Overveer the player who wants to pass has to give points to the player blocking the way with his figure. In Ildritz the game is played with a "red zone", if someone passes there, the player has to give a double amount of points to the passing player. In Wymar the play is influenced by Ildritz and Overveer, the game has "red zones" (as in Ildritz) and "green zones" where the Overveer rules apply. The game in on sale in different designs. The cheapest versions are those that are drawn on the streets by children, who use pebbles as points. Related topics: |
