Thirun and the Sudzi

Thirun was a vast land, with horizons far away, and a landscape to drown in. Hills filled views like waves on an ocean. The valleys were full of life near crystal clear brooks and waterfalls. The shade of fruitful trees fell over the fresh green grasses, that had a heavy odour in the evening breeze.
This was Thirun, land of a strong and peaceful people. They had build houses and palaces, towns and castles, and farms all over the valleys. They were rich, they were happy, they lived well.

But it did not last.

It was not a war that killed thousands of Thirunians. It was not an illness that tore this society apart. It was hunger, and humidity. The valleys lost their waterfalls, the brooks their water. The grass lost its green colour.
The harvests failed year after year, and the shortage of water caused the Thirunians to leave their cities.
Soon, the hills lost their trees and grasses. The earth moved with the storms, causing earthfalls and sandstorms. The pretty cities were hidden under thick layers of sand and mud. And under the cities, the dead were buried.

The Thirunians decided they had to leave Thirun. It was impossible to live there any longer. So their magicians went to a high hill, the highest in the centre of Thirun. They looked around.
In the east, they saw a high mountain range, that enclosed unknown lands. The mountain range would be very hard to pass.
In the north, vast areas of ice filled the horizon. It was a land of winter, snow and eternal cold.
The south was even drier than Thirun. It was always hot there, like the fires of the underworld licked the edges of the world.
Finally they turned to the west. There was a green land. It looked beautiful, especially since the glowing disc kissed the horizon. Fertile lands, flowing rivers, it was Thirun like they remembered it.

So they took what was left of the Thirunian on a journey to the west. It took long for the caravan to arrive in the valleys of a big river. The people settled on its banks.
They met a folk in the valleys of the west. These people called their selves Naglani. The Naglani called the newcomers Sudzi, “the people from the south”. They did not fight, but lived their lives separately in small communities.

Much of these times is unknown. Some Sudzisongs are about the trek to the west, but after that, even the songs are silent. There was another people in the lands of Daleth, but nothing of them is known. They only left some old, fragmented ruins. Among Ildritzer historians, this unknown people is simply known as “The Unknown”. Some ruins of Thirun have been found in the desert near the marketplace of Dernian Landis.
