House and tower in the Weslanan A sketch showing a typical rural house in the Weslanan. The house is made of wood, reeds and clay, the tower is built of stone. Not every house has a tower, but towers like these are used by a community to hide away during a war. In cities, towers like these are used to put the gong in.
The picture below is a sketch from a part of the Scholvan Castle.
Both sketches were made by the famous Weslanan architect Maniro Spindauns. He revived the traditional styles in modern buildings and renovations of older buildings. This mix was well done, especially in his renovation projects - the style of the old parts fitted well with the newer parts. He used materials found in the area for his buildings, and never minded about newer materials or methods. It is to be said, his buildings still last and are liked by many people.
Many of his sketches and etches are not finished. Spindauns fell from an unfinished tower and died, only 37 years old. His style lived on with the name Maniroism. Even now, many architects claim him to be their example.
