What is the KaleidoScape Webring about?
It is a small project to link my various web projects and those of friends, and probably some other web projects of strangers that are -in my eyes- something extra on the internet.

Can I join?
Probably, if you’ve got something to offer. Above mentioned “something extra” has more to do with content and less with design. I do not want any state of the art designs that lack any original content in the webring.
I think more along the lines of
  • presentations of literature and/or art
  • information on interesting topics that can’t be found at every street corner but is open to the common public (“human interest”)
  • anything with a solid and original content that has to do with creativity and hobby
  • especially projects that are not fit for theme based webrings are welcome - the fact that it doesn’t fit anywhere else proves it’s a unique content.
Some restrictions:
The site has to be in English, German, French or Dutch.
Commercial sites are not what I’m looking for.

How do I join?
Step 1: Just click "Join" in the ringfragment below and follow the instructions. Your site will be looked at, then you either are in the ring or receive a mail when you are not selected. Sites that are awarded will always be selected.
If you try to sign in with bogus projects, don't expect a reaction.
Step 2: Check your mail and remember your site ID. You have to put your Site ID in the ringcode where it says ***SITE ID***. Put the ringcode on your online site.
Step 3: Pick a logo and put it on your webspace. Then add the source of the logo in the place that says ***LOGO***.

Where to put the webring code?
Somewhere were it is easy to find for every visitor, from every place on your site. The KaleidoScape logo has to be put on your own webspace and not hotlinked from mine.

What do you look at when judging a site for the Webring?
  • original, entertaining and/or informative content of some volume
  • readability of the content (use of language, spelling, style)
  • no stolen content, respecting copyrights of others
  • presentation/navigation (can you easily find something on the site?)
  • accessibility of the site with older and alternative browsers
  • clever use of the extra possibilities that internet gives (multimedia, scripts, interaction)
  • some class in the presentation, some visible proof that someone has made an effort to create a good, friendly site (fast loading sites, good overview of the content, no pop-up banners)
  • activity. The site has to be either timeless or updated every once in a while. Sites that clearly are abandoned will be removed from the links.
